About Us

Our Mission

We are dedicated to encouraging the highest standards of singing in all musical styles. Through our workshops, student competitions, and continuing education programs, we create opportunities for teachers and students to collaboratively engage in excellent teaching and singing. We believe a cooperative exchange of knowledge and skill enhances our understanding of the art and craft of singing.

Edwin Barlow Scholarship and Emerging Artist Award
The Barlow Scholarship was established in 1995 as a tribute to Edwin Barlow, a local teacher, performer and NATS member who died in 1994. At the Singing Festival Winners’ Concert, participating students will be evaluated by SFBAC Member Teachers to identify winners of the Barlow Award.

Eleanor Cohen Fund
The Eleanor Cohen award was established last year in honor of Eleanor Cohen. The award is given specifically to a deserving vocalist who began studying voice on or after the age of 35. At the Singing Festival Winners’ Concert, participating students will be evaluated by SFBAC Member Teachers to identify winners of the Barlow Award.
